2008 48 Hour Recap
The 4th Annual 48 Hour Short Film Challenge set
new records in 2008. 61
teams of filmmakers from Arizona, California and Nevada participated in what has become the most anticipated
event of the year!
Featured on FOX 10 News, the Arizona Republic and East Valley Tribune, the 48 Hour Challenge continued to attract a
large audience in its fourth year. "The quality of films this year combined with the enthusiasm of the filmmakers and support from the general public was outstanding," said Jae Staats, Director and Founder of the A3F.

48 in 2008 kicked off at its traditional location in the 9 Lounge at Majerle's in downtown Phoenix. More than 225 filmmakers, actors, actresses, directors and crew members filled the restaurant in anticipation of the revealing of the 2008 guidelines.
Teams had to create a film based on the Theme
Miscalculation, a line of dialogue,
"Are you sure that's it?" and a Prop where a character had to turn or use a
key.
48 hours later, teams turned in their films at Majerle's before the 7 p.m. deadline. Exhaustion, weary eyes and caffeine-induced comas were the popular looks. Forty-five of the 61 teams beat the clock and had their films eligible for the judges' review and
Top 20 consideration.
Less than two weeks later, the Top 20 films premiered in Phoenix's largest auditorium at the AMC Arizona Center 24 Theatres. A new A3F record was established as a
sold-out crowd of 457 independent movie enthusiasts clapped, cheered and celebrated the achievements of this year's filmmakers. Over $2500 in prizes and certificates were handed out at the awards ceremony following the screening.
But the night wasn't over quite yet ... the evening's festivities continued into the wee hours of the night at the A3F After-Party at 1130 The Restaurant. Filmmakers, cast and crew members and the public continued the
magical evening over food and drinks and reminiscing of an unforgettable festival of independent films!
